1.Project Plan

(1.1)The Define Phase
(1.11)Introduction:
            ·    Write a statement describing the overall purpose of the project.
            ·   What is the key challenge or problem the project is aiming to address?
            ·   What are students intended to learn from the project?

         1.      To cultivate a sense of love towards the nature amongst the children.
         2.      The ill effects of deforestation.
         3.      To make them aware of the inevitable role of green plants and          consequences of their absence.







(1.12)Project Scope:

            Describe the scope of your project. This may include class and section, subjects it covers, self shills to be used etc. as well as other factors affecting scope.

Maintenance of log book by the students helps in regular analysis of their project.










(1.13) Curriculum and Standards:

            List the curriculum and standards this project with cover.
Class VIII Science
  1.           Conservation of plants and animals.
  2.           Causes of deforestation.
  3.        .  Global warming.
  4.           Extinction of flora and fauna.










Project Based Learning
Lesson 2

2.1 Essential Question:
            Put in writing the question that will engage the students
Ideas to overcome the challenge of deforestation and how far can we inculcate them in the society?

2.2 Grouping Strategy:
            Describe the criteria that will be used to form students team and how this maps to the goals of the project.
Team will comprise groups of 9 students of mixed gender and mixed ability and skills. A team work shall promote collaboration of ideas.


2.3 Learning Environment:
            Describe the learning environment for the project including any classroom adaptation that will be required.
The students are selected and the task is divided. Each student is asked to explore the maximum possibilities of the given task. In the group meeting the data was discussed and modified.

2.4 Assessment Approach:
                Describe the approach for:
                2.41 Authentic Assessment:
1) Campaigning on “go green”.
2) Organising a survey of plants in their locality.

           
2.42 Formative Assessment:

     1.      Continues evaluation assisted by regular feedback.
     2.      Adequate references shall be provided feedback is provided.

2.43Summative Assessment:

Assessment will be conducted on the
     1.      Presentation or paper work material
     2.      Authenticity of the corrected data.
     3.      References supplementing the data
     4.      Power point presentation.


2.44 Rubrics:

Rubrics will be used to assess
     1.      Project presentation
     2.      Analysis style and pattern.
     3.      Authenticity of the data
     4.      Objective fulfillment­­­­­­­.
     5.      Team interaction and spirit.


2.45 Gradings:

Project grads will be based on a combination of scores gathered from the assessments made during the project in reference to the rubrics.

Lesson 3- Plan Phase

3.1 Work Breakdown, Products and Milestones:
            List the project task and, if possible at this stage include the sub-tasks. For each task add the product that will be created and indicate it will be a milestone.

     1.       The students are required to provide the research report. Survey report after holding       surveys in their respective areas. They should also submit field trip report if any.
     2.       PowerPoint presentation.

3.2 Role definition:
            List the roles team members will fulfill in the project.
 
     1.       Project leader: teacher shall carry out the functioning of the project leader.
     2.       Survey writer: all students shall contribute
     3.       Presenter author
    4.       Presenter (all students are required to take part in the presentation.

3.3 Task schedule:
            Note start and end dates for the project.
                Include expected dates to start specific tasks

Activity –A briefing on the respective plant topic with the help of charts

3.4Special Activities Plan:
                List any special activities (e.g. Field trips or guest speakers) including dates.
Mini exhibition: 03/12/2016

           
3.5Resource Plan:
List resource that will be required during the project and any other date constraints associated with them.
Computer lab, science lab.

3.6 Direct Instruction:
List any planned direct instruction sessions and link them to specific tasks if appropriate.

3.7 Reviews and checkpoints:
      Describe how you will incorporate review meetings and checkpoints in the project
Regular meeting for each team shall be held for 10 minutes and this shall be recorded.

3.8 Assessment plan:
      Describe the balanced assessment plan for the project. List products that will be assessed                     during the project. List rubrics that need to be created before project launch.
Opportunities for authentic assessment will include the surveys and result. Analysis of the plants in their residential area supported by Formative assessment wills primary focus on the artifacts created by the students during the project. Special attention will be paid to survey prototypes, learning journals and presentation outlines. Summative assessments will be performed on the survey result, presentation on the signification of respective palnts.

Project Plan – Lesson 5

The Do Phase

(5.1) Project Launch:

                Describe how the project will be launched, including how goals, expectation, rules, procedures, assessment, and grading will be presented to the students.
  • The idea of the project shall be discussed in the class and shall also convey the objective of the research.
  • The rules, regulation, evaluation sheets and grading system shall be presented.
  • Samples of research reports and paperwork shall be circulated in class
  • A doubt clearance session shall be held during which students may clear their  question

(5.2) Artifacts:

                List artifacts that will be created during the project
  • Research reports

(5.3) Culminating product:

                Describe what culminating product or products are expected to be created during the project and how they will be presented.
  • Surveys in the respective locality

                Describe how the students will celebrate when the project is completed.

A presentation contest shall be held within the class.



Project Plan - Lesson 6

The Review Phase

(6.1)Student Reflection and Evaluation:

Describe how student reflection and evaluation will be conducted.

Besides the evaluation and grading through the paper work and the project submitted, students shall be graded through an evaluation sheet which shall be distributed by the end of the project. The sheet can include
      ·            Was the project knowledge enriching?
      ·         What did you like and not like about the project?
      ·         What do you think are the drawbacks of the paperwork submitted?
      ·         What would you do differently next time?
What more would you like to do as extension activities if any?

(6.2) Teacher Reflection and Evaluation:

                Describe how teacher reflection and evaluation will be conducted.

The Manage Phase


(7.1) Process Management:
                List tasks that will be used to manage the process of conducting the learning
1.       Planning

7.       project preparation

(7.2) Student Preparation:
                Describe how students will be prepared for the project prior to launch. List any specific instruction or tasks that will be needed
1.       The idea shall be discussed with the students prior of the project to the beginning.
2.       References to be considered, shall be discussed in class
3.       A session of doubt clearance shall be held.

(7.3)  Facilitation:
                Describe how facilitation of resources will be used to enable the students to be successful.
1.       Provision of references shall be arranged.
2.       Use of computer equipments shall be scheduled and booked in advance.
3.       Format of the paperwork of the research shall be introduced and familiarized through sample research submission.

(7.4) Progress Monitoring:
                Describe how program will be monitored throughout the project.

Group Progress
Group discussion and the logbook shall help in trucking the progress of group.

Regular submission of research report maintenance of student graph.

 




(7.5) Re-planning:

                Describe how ‘re-planning’ will be used if the project goes off track

Regular home works shall be employed for the students to stay in track.
10% additional time shall be allowed on the risk of the project going off track, beyond which grades shall be deducted.

(7.6) Conflict Management:

                Describe how to address problems related to participation, offer approaches to manage other conflicts that may arise.

Since the project involves teamwork, conflicts may arise among the members that should be resolved on their own(grading element) upon critical issues, the group leader is advised to inform the teacher,
